Ashland Art Works in September

Featured Artists for September
Amy Baumgart and Dave Leibowitz

Amy Baumgart

I started turning in Fall of 2019 and was quickly consumed with a passion for this work.

My body of work is still rather broad and eclectic.  Everything from functional bowls to more artistic bowls, vases, lidded boxes, a few kitchen items to hollow forms and lidded vessels.  The latter made with the intent of an urn – pet urns or keepsake urns.  (I had one customer tell me they used theirs for a fancy loose-change holder!)  I work with both wood and resin.  The resin allows me to introduce color and include other natural items in my turnings.  I often combine the resin with pine cones for a lovely effect.

Whatever the piece, every piece I create is a unique, one of a kind item made with Joy and Passion!

Dave Leibowitz

Dave Leibowitz is an East Coast transplant, bringing over fifty years of fascination with photography, collage, video art and experimental film-making to his home here in the Rogue Valley.

A Polaroid artist in the 80’s, a pioneer in computer art in the 90’s and a filmmaker all along the way, he also helped shape the Mobile art movement, which began in 2008.

Dave is drawn to the back roads and the stark natural beauty of the mountains, forests, farms and the creatures that live here. The simplicity and beauty is intoxicating and his goal is to captivate and inspire the viewer with his work.  Dave’s artwork is visually diverse, moving between old school vintage photography and more challenging digital or physical collage.
