FEATURED ARTISTS

MICHAEL GIBSON

Michael received a BFA from Houston Museum of Fine Arts. He worked as a designer, art director and taught life drawing, illustration, painting, graphic design and photography at the Art Institute of Houston and the Art Institute of Seattle. Michael developed the art history curriculum for the Art Institute. His passion for art, travel and photography continues and is reflected in his art which can be viewed at Ashland Art Works.

PENELOPE DEWS

Penelope Dews will be showing new ceramic sculptural work, some featuring mosaic inserts.

Showing and teaching in the Rogue Valley since 1995, Dews is one of the original artists that started Ashland Art Works.

Pieces are made with a modified coil process including some pinching and slab work. Although most pieces are animals, (some life size) floral elements and architectural references also make their way into the work.

COMMUNITY ART SPACE

Aziah McConnell

The Community Art Space welcomes ceramic artist Aziah McConnell. His sculptural works combine raw texture and surreal form, drawing inspiration from mythology, decay, and the dreamworld.

I am a certified Waldorf Educator, studied Art Therapy in New York City and Eugene, Oregon and graduated Phi Kappa Phi with a B.A. in Art from Southern Oregon University.

For the past twenty years, I have been teaching art and French, and offering workshops to the local community.
