Functional and Decorative Ceramic and Metal
When the Almeda wildfire ripped through our community in the September 2020, it forever changed the landscape of our lives and communities. Ashland Art Works artist Bonnie Morgan lost two buildings in the Old Town district of Talent. The last 2 years have found her focused on helping to rebuild her community and the historic building; Malmgren Garage.
As a featured artist this month Bonnie was inspired to create something from the debris left by the fire. She had taken fire marked metal flashing from the destroyed building and cut out the stepped parapet façade along with different sized hearts. All the funds raised from the metal flashing will go towards rebuilding Malmgren Garage and placing it on the National Register of Historic Buildings.

Cheryl Kempner

Ashland Art Works proudly displays work from founding member, Cheryl Kempner. Cheryl is a self-taught artist combining her clay hand building techniques with metal sculpting skills. The delicate softness of clay is a wonderful contrast to the hard elements offered by metals. Cheryl enjoys the process of working with metal because it forces her to be in the present moment.
Recently, Cheryl installed a whimsical metal garden with a curly branched celebratory Wish Tree and encouraged friends to hang well wishes upon the tree. Encounter a whimsical Wish Tree on Oak Street during Cheryl’s exhibition at Ashland Art Works in the month of August.
