RITA FISHER -Watercolors
This series of watercolor paintings was inspired by my deep belief in the transformative power of Young Girls Around the World.
As I looked across cultures and borders, I kept returning to the same truth: girls carry immense potential, yet too often grow up without the same opportunities, safety, or voice as their male counterparts. Across most societies, including parts of the United States, girls still face unequal access to education, safety, healthcare, and opportunity. These paintings honor their resilience, imagination, and quiet strength at a moment in life when possibility still feels boundless. Young girls growing up today have the power to change the world—if they are given the chance. Through watercolor—a medium that is both delicate and enduring—I wanted to reflect the vulnerability and power that coexist within them.
I believe that when girls are supported, educated, and valued, entire communities thrive. Progress has always required collective effort, and the future depends on all of us recognizing the urgency of gender equity—at home and around the world. By centering on young girls, I hope to move viewers to see them not only as they are today, but as leaders, innovators, and caretakers of a more just, compassionate, and sustainable world.
This work is not meant to divide, but to awaken empathy and shared responsibility. – Rita Fisher
