Elin Babcock – Multi Media Assemblage

Elin Babcock, artist-poet.  She is a multi-media artist with creations in assemblagé sculptures, lyrical abstract painting,geometric tile patterns, and mandala designs. She is a published poet and facilitates creativity, poetry and mandala workshops. Her belief is that creativity is everyone’s birthright.

“All my creations have a collaboration with the Universe or perhaps the subconscious.

Whether poem or visual art, I start each with an intention. Somewhere in the middle, work emerges to be more expansive than my original direction.”

Currently she is using discarded instruments and radiation masks into art part of her assemblages.

She is grateful to Ashland Art Works and all the people who helped make her creations for the show “Repurposing” possible.

AMY BAUMGARD – Wood Turning

 Amy enjoys finding local trees that have needed to come down due to disease or damage and give them new life in one of her turnings.  She enjoys putting a piece of wood on her lathe to uncover what is inside. 

The finished product is like a conversation between the wood and herself.  She envisions her pieces as functional art.

Lily Myers Kaplan – Claywork
“Honoring the Earth and Her People”

 Lily uses the slow-craft of hand-building clay into organically shaped forms that mimic the ebbs and flows of rock, water and earth. Her surface decorations on functional and decorative pottery are interpretations of the awe she feels in response to the tactile beauty of the natural world and the ancient rock art and pottery designs of earth-based cultures.

Lily says that her hope and intention is that each piece she makes invites a connection with the earth and the ancient peoples of the lands we inhabit, while bringing joy (or a touch of awe) into your everyday.

CHERYL KEMPNER – Ceramics & Multi Media

Greetings, I am Cheryl Kempner and I have shown my artwork at AAW for over 25 years, mostly in clay. Currently my focus is on using salvaged metal and clay creating garden art that is deer proof.

Recently 3 metal hoops used on wine barrels appeared at my studio and inspired new ways for me to enjoy the world of round things. I enjoy the opportunities I have as an artist to create something new and fun.
