Oil Paintings


This series of paintings explore the ancient landscapes of the Utah canyons through color, texture and gesture. I paint in oils on OSB (oriented strand board), allowing the physical character of the surface to become part of the work. The irregular grain and fragmented structure of the board echo the stratified rock formations of the landscape. The resulting landscapes exist somewhere between observation and abstraction.

Mountain Meadows, Ashland’s unique 55+ Retirement Community, is home to an abundance of talented and creative artists.  Our dynamic community, and the thriving art scene in Ashland, inspire our artists to share their creativity in Mountain Meadows Clubhouse exhibits as well as other venues in the Rogue Valley.

This exhibit features six artists who have created abstract images that invite curiosity and engage the imagination.  Whether a work of watercolor, photography, alcohol ink or collage, a mystery can be found lurking there with a careful look.  The viewer might dance with these images to discover a personal meaning, reaction or reflection.  As each evokes a different response, the exhibit becomes an entire world to explore.
